Simon's Mother-in-Law

When Jesus and His friends left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. When Jesus entered, they told Jesus that Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. So, Jesus went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. And as she arose, the fever left her. And she began to serve them.

That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were sick, and the whole town gathered at the door. Jesus laid hands on each one and healed them. The people also brought many who were demon-possessed, and Jesus drove out the spirits with a word. This all was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases.”

Now, when the demons came out of the people, many shouted, “You are the Son of God!” But Jesus rebuked the demons and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Messiah (Christ).
