March 27 – Surrendering Future Plans

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
— Psalm 37:5

The future often stirs both hope and anxiety. We make plans with good intentions, yet uncertainty lingers—What will happen? Will things work out? Am I making the right choices? Psalm 37 invites us to commit our way to the Lord, placing our plans, desires, and uncertainties into His hands. Surrendering the future does not mean giving up responsibility; rather, it means releasing the illusion of control. Spiritual formation deepens when we entrust our longings and decisions to God’s wisdom, believing that He is faithful to lead us.

Take a moment to reflect on your current plans and uncertainties. Ask yourself: What part of my future am I most anxious about right now? What plans am I clinging to tightly? Do I trust God enough to let Him redirect my steps if needed? How might surrendering my plans bring peace rather than fear? These questions help uncover the places where God is inviting you to rely on His timing, His guidance, and His purposes.

Today, practice surrendering the future by naming one specific plan, dream, or worry and offering it to God. Speak it aloud or write it in your journal, then pray, “Lord, I commit my way to You.” Imagine placing this concern into God’s open hands. Throughout the day, whenever you feel the urge to take control, pause and repeat Psalm 37:5 as a breath prayer. Notice the sense of relief and trust that grows when you release the future to a God who is already there, preparing the way ahead.

Loving Father, thank You for knowing the plans You have for me and for guiding my steps. I commit my way to You—my decisions, my hopes, my uncertainties, and my future. Help me trust Your timing and Your wisdom more than my own understanding. Lead me on the path that brings glory to Your name and peace to my heart. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
