May 26 — Doing Good Without Weariness
“Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Doing good can be both meaningful and tiring. There are
seasons when serving, helping, and caring for others brings joy and energy. But
there are also times when it feels slow, unnoticed, or even discouraging.
Efforts may not seem to produce immediate results. Gratitude may be absent.
Progress may feel delayed. In those moments, weariness can quietly set in.
Paul speaks directly into this experience. He does not deny
the possibility of weariness—he acknowledges it. But he also encourages
perseverance. The work of doing good is not wasted, even when it feels unseen.
There is a promise attached to faithfulness: in due time, there will be a
harvest.
This invites a moment of reflection: Where am I feeling weary in doing good? Is there an area where you have been giving, serving, or trying to remain faithful, but feel discouraged? Have you begun to question whether your efforts matter? Weariness often grows when we focus on immediate results rather than long-term faithfulness.
Today, take a step back and bring your weariness before God.
Pray honestly, “Lord, I am tired. Renew my strength.” Allow yourself to
rest where needed, but do not lose sight of the calling to continue. Even small
acts of goodness, done consistently, carry significance beyond what you can
see.
You may also consider one simple act of good today—not
driven by pressure, but by quiet faithfulness. Let it be an expression of trust
rather than striving. Trust that God sees, and that He is at work even when
results are not immediate.
Over time, perseverance becomes part of your character. You
begin to understand that faithfulness is not measured by visible outcomes
alone, but by the steady willingness to continue. And in God’s time, what has
been sown in faith will bear fruit.
Heavenly Father,
— Galatians 6:9
This invites a moment of reflection: Where am I feeling weary in doing good? Is there an area where you have been giving, serving, or trying to remain faithful, but feel discouraged? Have you begun to question whether your efforts matter? Weariness often grows when we focus on immediate results rather than long-term faithfulness.
You see the places where I feel weary and discouraged. Thank You for reminding me that my efforts are not unnoticed and that You are at work beyond what I can see.
Renew my strength when I feel tired. Help me to continue doing good with a willing heart, even when results are not immediate. Guard me from discouragement, and anchor me in Your promises. Give me perseverance to remain faithful, trusting that You will bring a harvest in Your time.
I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
