Jesus, Again, Predicts His Death

As Jesus and His disciples were going up the road to Jerusalem, Jesus walked ahead of them. His disciples were amazed, but the people who followed them were afraid. Jesus took the Twelve aside and, as before, told them what was going to happen to Him: “Listen, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that the prophets have written about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes. They will condemn Him to death and will deliver Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, insulted, and spit upon. He will be flogged and crucified. And on the third day, He will be raised to life.”

But His disciples did not understand any of these things. The meaning was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what Jesus was saying.
