Mourning

Herod was furious when he learned that he had been outwitted by the Magi. He gave orders to put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, based on the time of the star's appearing, which he had learned from the Magi. And so, what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted because the children are no more.”

(See Jeremiah 31:15; Matthew 2:16-18)
