April 21 – Bearing Fruit That Lasts
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed
you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the
Father in My name, He will give you.”
Resurrection life is fruitful life. Jesus reminds His
disciples that they were chosen and appointed to bear fruit that lasts. This
fruit is not measured by temporary achievement or visible success, but by
enduring spiritual impact—lives changed, hearts softened, faith strengthened,
love multiplied. Fruit that remains grows from abiding in Christ. It is the
natural result of connection, not compulsion.
Reflect on the kind of fruit your life is producing. Ask
yourself: What qualities are growing in me over time? Where do I see
evidence of the Spirit’s work? Am I striving for results, or am I remaining
connected to Christ? What kind of impact do I hope my life leaves behind?
Fruitfulness in God’s kingdom often unfolds quietly—through faithful service,
steady character, and unseen obedience.
Today, focus on abiding rather than achieving. Spend a few
moments in prayer or Scripture, not to accomplish something, but simply to
remain near Christ. Ask Him to produce fruit through you rather than trying to
manufacture it yourself. You might also encourage someone else in their
spiritual growth—a conversation, a note, or a prayer offered sincerely. Notice
how fruitfulness feels less like pressure and more like participation in what
God is already doing.
Loving Father, thank You for choosing and appointing me
to bear lasting fruit. Help me remain rooted in Christ so that Your Spirit may
work through me. Guard me from striving and teach me to abide. May my life
reflect fruit that endures for Your glory. All this I pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
