April 6 – Hope That Rises from the Tomb

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
— 1 Peter 1:3

Easter Sunday proclaims that Christ is risen. The days that follow invite us to live in that reality. Peter describes resurrection hope as a living hope—not a fragile wish or vague optimism, but a steady, breathing confidence rooted in what God has done. Because Jesus rose from the dead, our hope is not tied to circumstances, success, or stability. It is anchored in the mercy and power of God.

Consider what kind of hope shapes your daily life. Ask yourself: Is my hope dependent on things going well? Do I feel hopeful only when situations improve? What would it look like for my hope to be rooted in the resurrection instead of my circumstances? Where do I most need living hope right now? Resurrection hope does not deny hardship. It simply refuses to believe that hardship is the end of the story.

Today, practice cultivating living hope in one specific area of your life. Identify a concern that feels discouraging or unresolved. Instead of rehearsing worst-case outcomes, pray, “Lord, anchor my hope in Your resurrection.” You might write 1 Peter 1:3 in your journal and reflect on the phrase “new birth into a living hope.” Ask God to renew your perspective. If you encounter someone weighed down by worry, offer a word of encouragement—not empty reassurance, but hope grounded in Christ’s victory. Notice how hope begins to reshape your posture toward the future.

Loving Father, thank You for giving me new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus. Root my confidence in Your mercy rather than in changing circumstances. Strengthen me to face challenges with steady faith, and help me share resurrection hope with those around me. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
