Discipline Believers
“If your brother or sister sins against you, go and confront them privately. If they listen to you, you have won your brother or sister over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If your brother or sister refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if your brother or sister refuses to listen even to the church, regard them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.”
See Matthew 18:15-17: Deuteronomy 19:15
Note: “against you”: For the Gospel of Matthew, only two of the source manuscripts—Nestle 1904 (NE) and Westcott and Hort (WH)—include the portion “against you.”
