Parable of the Lost Coin

Jesus continued with another parable. “Or what about a woman who has just ten silver coins? If she loses one of the coins, does she not light a lamp, sweep her house, and search carefully until she finds the lost coin? And when she finds it, she calls together her friends and neighbors to say, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my coin that was lost!’ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

Notes: "ten silver coins": ten Greek drachmas, each worth about one day's wages.
