Anna

While Mary and Joseph were in the temple with the Baby Jesus, there was also there a prophetess whose name was Anna. She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. Anna was well along in years. She had been married for seven years, and then she was a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there night and day, fasting and praying.

When Mary and Joseph presented Jesus, Anna came forward at that moment. She gave thanks to God and she spoke about the Child to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
