April 25 – Finding God in the Ordinary
Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for
the Lord and not for men.
Resurrection life is not confined to dramatic spiritual
moments. It unfolds in kitchens and offices, classrooms and errands, quiet
conversations and routine responsibilities. Paul reminds us that whatever we do
can be done for the Lord. When our perspective shifts, ordinary tasks become
sacred opportunities. Folding laundry, answering emails, preparing meals,
caring for family, serving coworkers—each can become an offering.
Reflect on your daily rhythms. Ask yourself: Do I divide
my life into “spiritual” and “ordinary,” or do I see all of it as belonging to
God? Which parts of my day feel unnoticed or insignificant? How might those
tasks change if I consciously offered them to the Lord? God’s presence is
not limited to formal worship; He is near in the mundane.
Today, choose one ordinary task and perform it deliberately
as an act of devotion. Before beginning, pray, “Lord, I offer this to You.”
Work attentively and gratefully, even if the task is simple. If you feel
frustration or boredom, gently return your focus to God’s presence. Notice how
intentional awareness transforms routine into worship. In time, the ordinary
becomes a steady meeting place with the risen Christ.
Loving Father, thank You that no part of my life is
outside Your care. Help me see Your presence in the ordinary moments of my day.
Teach me to offer my work, my responsibilities, and my routines as acts of
worship. Let resurrection life shine through even the smallest tasks. All this
I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
