April 26 – The Gift of Community

And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
— Hebrews 10:24-25

Resurrection life is not meant to be lived in isolation. The risen Christ gathers a people, not just individuals. Community is one of God’s primary tools for spiritual formation. Through encouragement, accountability, shared worship, and mutual care, we are strengthened and shaped. Hebrews reminds us that gathering together is not optional but essential. We need others to spur us toward love and good deeds, just as they need us.

Reflect on your experience of Christian community. Ask yourself: Am I intentionally connected to other believers, or drifting into independence? Who encourages my faith? Whom am I encouraging? Do I prioritize gathering, or do I allow busyness to crowd it out? Community is not always easy—it involves patience, forgiveness, and humility. Yet it is in these very interactions that Christ refines us.

Today, take one step toward deeper community. Reach out to someone in your church or spiritual circle with a word of encouragement. If possible, commit to attending worship, a small group, or a gathering where faith is shared. Offer prayer for someone specifically by name. Notice how connection strengthens your own heart. The Spirit often ministers to us through others, and through us to them.

Loving Father, thank You for the gift of Christian community. Help me value and invest in the relationships You have given me. Teach me to encourage, to listen, and to love faithfully. May our shared life reflect the unity and hope of the risen Christ. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
