April 28 – Courage Through the Spirit
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power,
love, and self-control.
Resurrection life is courageous life. The same Spirit who
raised Jesus from the dead now lives within believers, and Paul reminds Timothy
that this Spirit is not characterized by fear. Instead, the Spirit brings
power—the strength to act faithfully; love—the ability to respond with grace;
and self-control—the steadiness to remain anchored in truth. Fear may visit us,
but it does not define us.
Pause and reflect on where fear may be shaping your choices.
Ask yourself: What situation currently stirs anxiety or hesitation in me?
Where am I shrinking back from obedience because of uncertainty? Do I rely more
on my own confidence or on the Spirit’s empowering presence? Courage does
not mean the absence of fear; it means choosing faithfulness despite it. The
Spirit equips us not for recklessness, but for steady, loving obedience.
Today, take one small step of Spirit-led courage. It might
be initiating a difficult conversation, standing firm in integrity, offering a
witness to your faith, or stepping into a new responsibility. Before you act,
pray, “Holy Spirit, give me power, love, and self-control.” Notice how
courage grows when rooted in love and guided by wisdom. Each faithful step
strengthens your trust in the Spirit’s presence.
Loving Father, thank You for giving me a Spirit of power,
love, and self-control. When fear rises, remind me of Your presence within me.
Strengthen my courage to act faithfully and lovingly in every circumstance. Let
resurrection boldness shape my life for Your glory. All this I pray in Jesus’
name. Amen.
