Woes

The Gospel of Luke tells us that just as Jesus taught the Beatitudes to the people, He also taught them the woes of being satisfied.

“But woe to you who are rich. You are receiving your comfort in full.

“Woe to you who are well-fed now. You shall be hungry.

“Woe to you who laugh now. You shall mourn and weep.

“Woe to you when all speak well of you. Their ancestors used to treat the false prophets in the same way.”

(See Luke 6:24-26)
