Sing to the Lord, for He Has Done Glorious Things

“Sing to the LORD, for He has done glorious things.
Let this be known in all the earth.”
— Isaiah 12:5

In this brief yet powerful verse, the prophet Isaiah calls us to sing—not from obligation, but from recognition. God has done glorious things. His acts are not abstract or hidden; they are real, evident, and worthy of proclamation. The natural response to seeing the hand of God in our lives and in history is not silence, but song. Isaiah does not suggest that we keep this song to ourselves. Instead, he insists: Let this be known in all the earth.

This verse shifts the tone of music from personal expression to public witness. Singing becomes missional. It becomes a means of telling others—not just what we believe, but what God has done. Music becomes a testimony, capable of crossing boundaries and echoing across nations. In times when words fall short or are easily dismissed, a song can carry truth with power and beauty, compelling hearts to listen and remember.

Reflect for a moment on what glorious things God has done in your life. Have you paused lately to name them, to notice them, to let gratitude rise into song? And have you shared that song? Sometimes we think of worship as a private experience, but Isaiah reminds us that our singing can also be a way of making God’s greatness known in the world. What might it mean for you to let your praise be heard—not just by God, but by others?

Today, let your singing be a declaration. Whether it is in a sanctuary, a rehearsal room, a kitchen, or a quiet walk outdoors, let your voice carry the truth of God’s goodness. Choose a song that names His glory clearly, or create your own—one that tells your story of His work in your life. And as you sing, remember that this is not only an act of worship but a form of proclamation. Let this be known in all the earth: the Lord has done glorious things.

Glorious God,

You have done wondrous things in my life and in the world around me. Thank You for Your mighty works, Your faithfulness, and the beauty of Your salvation. Help me not to keep silent about what You have done. Put a song of testimony in my mouth, and let it carry beyond my own heart so others may hear of Your greatness. Give me courage to let my praise be a witness—not only to You, but to those who need to know Your power and love. May my singing proclaim to all the earth that You alone are God and You have done glorious things.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
