September 1 — Becoming Like Christ
“For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.” — Romans 8:29 God's greatest work in your life is not simply changing your circumstances. It is changing you. We often pray for God to solve problems, open doors, remove obstacles, or make our lives easier. Those are good and appropriate prayers. Yet throughout Scripture we discover that God is accomplishing something even greater. He is shaping us to become more like Jesus Christ. “…to be conformed to the image of His Son…” This is God's purpose for every believer. From the moment we place our faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit begins a lifelong work of transformation.
