July 27 — Serving with What You’ve Been Given

As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.
— 1 Peter 4:10
 
 
Each life carries something given. Abilities, experiences, resources, time—these are not random or without purpose. Scripture describes them as gifts, expressions of God’s grace placed into your life.
“Each of you should use whatever gift he has received…” There is no comparison here. You are not asked to have someone else’s gifts or to serve in someone else’s way. You are invited to recognize what has been entrusted to you.
 
Pause and reflect: What has God placed in my life that I can use to serve others? It may be something you already recognize, or something you have not yet fully considered. “…to serve one another.” Gifts are not meant to remain unused or held inwardly. They are given for the benefit of others. Service becomes the place where what you have been given begins to take shape and bring life. “As good stewards…” A steward does not own what they manage—they care for it faithfully. In the same way, what you have been given is something to be used wisely and intentionally, not overlooked or neglected. “…of the manifold grace of God.” God’s grace appears in many forms. It is expressed through different people, different gifts, and different acts of service. Together, these form a broader picture of His care at work in the world.
 
Today, consider one way you can use what you have been given. It may be something simple—offering encouragement, helping with a need, sharing your time, or using a skill to benefit someone else. You might pray, “Lord, help me to serve with what You have given me.” You do not need to do everything. You do not need to be someone else. You are invited to be faithful with what is already in your hands. And as you use it, you become part of something larger—a reflection of God’s grace, expressed through your life in ways that matter.
 
 
Loving Father,

 Thank You for the gifts You have placed in my life. Help me to recognize them and to use them in ways that serve others.
 
Teach me to be a faithful steward of what You have given. Guide me to respond with willingness and humility, offering what I have for the good of others. Let my life reflect Your grace.
 
All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
