May 19 — God’s Faithfulness in Trials

“Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”
— Lamentations 3:22-23

These words were written in a time of deep sorrow. The writer of Lamentations was not speaking from comfort or ease, but from the midst of devastation and grief. And yet, in that place, he declares something remarkable: God’s loving devotion has not failed. His mercies are still present. His faithfulness remains.

This reminds us that God’s faithfulness is not dependent on our circumstances. It does not come and go with our experiences. Even in seasons of trial, when clarity is limited and strength feels diminished, His mercy continues—quietly, consistently, and without end.

Take a moment to reflect: Where do I see God’s faithfulness right now? It may not appear in dramatic ways. It may be found in small provisions—strength for the day, a moment of peace, the presence of someone who cares, or the simple ability to continue. Trials can narrow our focus to what is difficult, but faith invites us to also notice what is being sustained.

Today, begin by acknowledging one evidence of God’s mercy in your life. It may be as simple as the gift of a new day. As you move through your day, remain attentive to these quiet expressions of His faithfulness. When challenges arise, gently remind yourself, “His mercies are new today.”

Over time, this awareness reshapes how we walk through trials. We may still feel the weight of difficulty, but we are no longer without hope. We begin to see that God’s faithfulness is not absent in hardship—it is present within it, sustaining us one day at a time.

Loving Father,

Thank You for Your unfailing mercy and Your constant faithfulness. Even in difficult seasons, You have not left me, and Your care continues each day. I confess that I sometimes lose sight of this when I focus only on what is hard.

Open my eyes to see Your faithfulness in both the small and the significant moments. Strengthen me in times of trial, and remind me that Your mercies are new every morning. Help me to trust You, even when I do not fully understand. Let Your faithfulness steady my heart and guide me through each day.

All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
