May 29 — Trusting God with Tomorrow

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.”
— Matthew 6:34
 
 
The future has a way of pulling our thoughts away from the present. We wonder what might happen, how things will unfold, and whether we will be ready for what lies ahead. These thoughts can quietly grow into worry, and before long, they begin to shape how we live today. Jesus speaks directly into this tendency, not by dismissing our concerns, but by redirecting our focus.
 
Jesus invites us to return to the present moment. This does not mean that planning is wrong or that responsibility should be ignored. Rather, it means that worry—especially about what has not yet happened—does not bring clarity or peace. It only divides the heart, pulling it away from trust in God.
 
Pause and reflect: What concerns about tomorrow are weighing on me today? Are there situations you are trying to control in your mind before they even arrive? Have you allowed uncertainty about the future to diminish your ability to be present in the moment God has given you?
 
Today, take a step of trust by gently releasing one specific worry to God. You might pray, “Lord, You already hold tomorrow. Help me to trust You with what I cannot see.” Then, turn your attention back to what is before you—your responsibilities, your relationships, your opportunities to love and serve.
There is grace for today.
 
When we remain anchored in the present, we begin to notice God’s provision more clearly. Strength for today is given today. Guidance for today is given today. And when tomorrow comes, God will meet you there as well.
 
 
Loving Father,

 You know the concerns that fill my mind about the future. Thank You for reminding me that I do not need to carry tomorrow before it arrives.
 
Help me to trust You with what I cannot control. Teach me to release my worries into Your care and to rest in Your presence today. Give me peace in this moment and confidence in Your faithfulness for what lies ahead.
 
All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
