June 20 — Let Your Light Shine
“In the same way, let
your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify
your Father in heaven.”
Light is meant to be
seen. Jesus does not describe a hidden or private faith, but one that becomes
visible through the way we live. This is not about drawing attention to
ourselves, but about allowing the goodness of God to be reflected in our
actions. “Let your light shine…” This is an invitation, not a demand for
perfection. Your light shines when your life reflects what God is doing within
you—through kindness, integrity, generosity, and compassion. These are not
dramatic displays, but consistent expressions of a transformed heart.
Pause and reflect: What
does my life currently reveal to others? Are your actions pointing toward
yourself, or toward God? Are there ways your light has been dimmed—perhaps by
fear, hesitation, or uncertainty? “…that they may see your good deeds…” Good
deeds are the visible expression of inward faith. They are the small and steady
ways we care for others, serve with sincerity, and respond with grace. Often,
these acts go unnoticed by many—but they are never without purpose. “…and
glorify your Father in heaven.” The goal is not recognition, but reflection.
When others see goodness in your life, it becomes an opportunity for them to
glimpse something of God’s character.
Today, consider one
intentional way to let your light shine. It may be a simple act of kindness, a
word of encouragement, or a quiet moment of service. You might pray, “Lord, let
my life reflect Your light.” You do not need to force this. As you walk with
God, your life naturally begins to reflect Him. And in that reflection, even
the smallest acts can become a source of light—pointing beyond you to the One
who is at work within you.
Loving Father,
Thank You for the light You have placed within me through Your presence. Help me not to hide it, but to let it shine in ways that reflect Your goodness.
Guide my actions so that they point others toward You. Give me the courage to live openly and faithfully, and the humility to seek Your glory rather than my own. Let my life be a reflection of Your light.
All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
