June 9 — Guided by His Word

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105

There are times when the path ahead feels unclear. We may wish for a full picture—clear direction for the future, certainty about what lies ahead, and assurance that we are making the right choices. Yet often, that clarity does not come all at once. Instead, we are given something quieter, more immediate. A lamp for the next step. This image is simple but meaningful. A lamp does not illuminate the entire journey. It provides just enough light to take the next step safely. In the same way, God’s Word often guides us not by revealing everything at once, but by giving us what we need for today.

Pause and reflect: Am I seeking clarity for the whole path, or guidance for the next step? Are there areas where you feel uncertain or hesitant? It is natural to want complete understanding, but God invites us into a different rhythm—one of trust and steady movement.

Today, consider spending time with a portion of Scripture, even a single verse. Read it slowly. Sit with it. Ask, “Lord, what are You showing me for today?” Allow His Word to shape your thoughts and guide your actions in small but meaningful ways. Guidance often comes through attentiveness. As you move through your day, notice how Scripture begins to inform your responses—how it influences your decisions, your words, and your attitudes. This is how the lamp works: not all at once, but step by step. You may not see the whole path. But you are not walking in darkness. God’s Word is with you, lighting the way forward—one faithful step at a time.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of Your Word and for the guidance it provides. When I feel uncertain, remind me that I do not need to see the whole path.

Help me to trust You for each step. Teach me to listen, to reflect, and to follow where You lead. Let Your Word shape my thoughts and direct my actions today. Guide me in the way I should go.

I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
